I lead Content Design for the Facebook Discovery, Creators, and Monetization teams — three very different spaces with different audiences and goals. But the mission remains the same: using language to make digital experiences more human.
I'm a writer to the core, with a background in literary studies and journalism, and I believe that good writing is the foundation of success for any content design project. I also care deeply about, and excel at, building healthy teams where people can thrive and grow to their full potential.
I live in Seattle, where I mostly grew up, but I was born in New York City and have lived in New Orleans, Miami, Portland, and Wuhan. I love studying languages; right now I'm focused on Italian. In my free time, I write fiction.
What I love most about content design as a discipline is that it's equal parts analysis, creativity, and empathy. (Not coincidentally, it also attracts the absolute coolest people.) Here's a bit about my philosophy and approach.
A usable and enjoyable digital experience starts with empathy and imagination. I hire and coach for curiosity, empathy, and the ability to inhabit another person's point of view.
Sure, anyone can use AI to generate passable strings. But AI can't make it sing, and it can't always make it make sense in context. For that, you need a writer with a sharp eye and a systematic approach.
Building a healthy and high-performing team begins with a genuine commitment to each person on it — understanding their strengths, coaching on their growth areas, and getting to know them as people.
